Lent is the time of year when God obligates us to prepare our hearts and to purify our souls so that we are ready to receive Our Lord in His glorious coming at Easter. There’s no time to delay. The Bible says, “Behold, now is a very acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
(2 Cor. 6:2).
The connection of confession with Lent is related to baptism. We are either preparing during Lent to recommit ourselves to our baptismal promises at the Easter Vigil, or we are preparing to be baptized. Lent is a season of reflection on and repentance for sin. Reconciliation, like Lent, is tied into our fidelity to the meaning of baptism in Christ — dying and rising with him.
Multiple priests will be available to hear your confession on this evening of penance. This will be your last chance to go to confession until after Easter, so please make arrangements to prepare yourself and the way of the Lord.
